Asbestos Disease, also sometimes identified as Asbestosis, is a disorder that is caused by contact with asbestos which can come from a variety of sources.  Asbestos are fibers that at one time were commonly utilized in different cement products, materials that had fire retardant properties, floor tiles made of vinyl, and different types of insulation.  When you come in direct contact with such fibers they enter into your lungs and the fibers are the direct cause of Asbestosis.  While there are a variety of laws in place that now significantly limit the use of Asbestos fibers, these fibers can sometimes still be present in older buildings.

Asbestos Disease symptoms commonly do not present in an individual with immediacy and it could be decades before the symptoms are revealed.  The fibers from Asbestos materials will cause permanent and baneful scarring in your lungs which is the cause of your breathing difficulties.  Your lung tissues actually become less flexible making it more difficult for you to inhale, exhale, and to get the right amount of oxygen in your blood.

You may also present with secondary conditions that are brought on by your development of Asbestos Disease.  Since your lungs are directly affected by the condition, you can actually develop elevated blood pressure issues inside your lungs; the scarring in your lungs will cause the lungs to compress and the tiny vessels in your lungs experience an increase in pressure as a result.  Cardiovascular problems are also associated symptoms with long term Asbestos Disease.  Your heart can actually get enlarged since your body is working extra hard all the time to get the oxygen that it requires in order to function.  Cancer of one lung or both lungs is not uncommon when it comes to developing Asbestosis: your damaged lung tissues pose a risk for abnormal cellular growth in the lungs.
