While there are many sexually transmitted diseases that are common in the developed world today, the symptoms of chancroid are not experienced by many people. In fact, only about one person in every two million has to deal with this disease.Though it is never a good thing to contract any sort of STD, chancroid is mundane when compared to many of the other diseases out there.Though the symptoms of chancroid are difficult and painful to deal with for a short time, the disease does not pose any long-term health risks in its current form.

So what are the symptoms of chancroid?Typically, chancroid symptoms occur in developing countries, and they are a common part of the commercial sex industry. They are similar in men and women, though women are known to experience the symptoms on a larger and more painful scale. This STD typically presents itself in the form of a bump that quickly turns into much more than a bump.People who have studied these types of diseases know that most of them will cause the common negative health side effects like nausea and diarrhea. This one does not cause any of those things, though, as it presents itself in the form of a legitimate eye sore. When a person gets a bump from chancroid, they will notice that the bump starts to turn into a very painful ulcer over the course of as little as a day.In men, this symptom of chancroid comes on the penis itself, while it can come in different places for women. Women can experience ulcers in the inner thigh area, and they can get them around the vagina. These ulcers are typically soft, and they can be distinguished in this way from the ulcers that come with the STD syphilis. Those hard ulcers are even more painful than the ones caused by this disease.

All in all, the symptoms of chancroid are easy to handle when compared to other sexually transmitted diseases that are out there. With the right medical treatment, the disease can go away in as little as a week, and there will be no sign of the painful ulcer that was once there. It is important to take care of chancroid symptoms right away, though, as having the disease can set a person up to contract other, more serious STDs later on.
